Austin Dog Rescue is made up purely of volunteers. Each dog is sheltered within a home in the Austin area. As such, there is no physical shelter to visit the dog at. If you think you may be interested in a particular dog now or in the future, please fill out an application form. People with approved application forms are prioritized over people who haven’t yet applied.
Dash is a super happy-go-lucky little guy who gives the best kisses! He is a roly poly, champion stick finder, and a lover of any toy that squeaks. He has handled many new situations in his foster home really well.
Little kids? Not scary.
Big kids? Not scary.
Vacuum cleaner? Not scary.
Big dogs barking? The jury is still out, but mostly not scary.
Although he can be a little apprehensive when meeting new people, after a few sniffs, he warms up and is ready to play.
His foster mom refers to him as a “magic” puppy because he sleeps well through the night & rarely soils kennel. He is quickly catching on to potty training, knows “sit”, and is working hard on “wait”, “free”, and “release”. He’s a smart cookie and will do well with any future training.
Dash was brought to the shelter with his brother, Denver, and three sisters when they were roughly 8 weeks old. Because we never saw his mom or dad, guessing his adult size and weight is difficult, but he will most likely top out around 50-55 pounds.
He gets along fine with the resident dogs in his foster home and is respectful of their “playtime is over!” cues. There really isn’t anything this pup can’t do!
