Austin Dog Rescue is made up purely of volunteers. Each dog is sheltered within a home in the Austin area. As such, there is no physical shelter to visit the dog at. If you think you may be interested in a particular dog now or in the future, please fill out an application form. People with approved application forms are prioritized over people who haven’t yet applied.
Howdy, I’m Arlo and I’m a hefty, chill, and loyal part Great Pyrenees. I’m actually small (34” high) for one so my foster thinks I’m also potentially part lab. My foster mom says everyone loves me when they meet me.
Although, I’m a hefty boy I like laying near my foster's feet and pushing my nose in for the occasional pet. I absolutely live for my daily walks. I’m really good on a leash except for the occasional cat and rabbit sightings.
Oop, one minute. My foster has something to say: Arlo is learning “leave it” but will need to continue to work on that. Otherwise, he is friendly, gets along with his foster's female dog. He is super house trained, he is free to roam the house but seeks his safe comfy place in a large kennel.
Arlo has been with his foster since November due to overcoming various medical but treatable ailments. Currently on the tail end of his heartworm treatment, ready for his new home.
And I'm back... My new parents will need to keep my activity low key for a little longer but my nature makes it easy. When I can play hard please have plenty of balls because that is my favorite. I’m gentle but probably best with older children in a no cat household. I bark at loud school buses, garbage trucks, and doorbells. I play well with other dogs.
My foster mom will be sorry to let me go but says she is excited for me to find the ideal forever home.
If you think this is you please fill out the app and reach out. We'll be in touch :)
