Deucey

deucey-homeDeucey is doing great.. He's been with us for just 2 weeks now and while we're still getting to know each other, he's fitting right into our family. At first we had a couple of days of adjustment getting our sleep schedules down, but all seems to be well now. Deucey loves to go for walks and we've mostly been able to get in two of them each day. He loves to sit with us watching TV, go for rides, and even hang out at our business so that he doesn't spend too much time at home by himself.
While a bit shy at first, Deucey is very good when meeting new people and especially enjoyed spending time with our grandchildren. He's not big on playing with toys, but we're hoping to introduce him to catching a Frisbee in the back yard. We'll see if we can teach an old dog new tricks.....

Austin Dog Rescue has been great to work with. We believe that their attention to detail throughout the adoption process ensured that there were no surprises in terms of health, behavior, or compatibility. As seniors, just about the same age as Deucey, we appreciate the fact that he is house trained and very laid back.  Thanks to both Morgan and Joyce!

Hector-Ziggy

hectorI just wanted to send you a quick update to let you know that Hector is settling in wonderfully here! We've actually decided to change his name to Ziggy since it just seems to fit his crazy playful nature better. He plays with the other two dogs just fine, and they have already figured out how to share bones and toys with each other with out any issues.  He's definitely got energy so we have been taking him out with us whenever we can and are setting up a play group with a few friends who have rescue pups about the same age (so he can have more romping than our older dogs are willing to participate in).  We've actually been letting him sleep out of his crate in our room at night and he has done fine.  I've attached a few pictures, you'll see in one of them where he and our 70lb greyhound decided to swap beds (his is under the greyhound) :-)  We are thrilled with him.

Best,
Randi

Oliver Twist - Biscuit

olivertwist-biscuitHi Amber,

Hope you are doing well. Biscuit is happy happy happy! He is always happy to be around people, and he is full of energy. He jumps off of anything. And bounces around kind of like Tigger.  We think he must have terrier or something??

Anyway, here is a picture from earlier tonight. He is gaining a lb. a week. He is almost 14 lbs.

Pickle - Apollo

pickle_apollo_wildflowersHi Ryan and Allegra!

I just wanted to drop a line and give y'all an update on Apollo (formerly Pickles). I feel like I lucked out and got the perfect dog. He ispickle_apollo_beach the most well-behaved little boy on the planet, and loves going to restaurants with me and wandering around Austin's hiking trails. He was extremely introverted for the first couple of weeks, but it did not take long for him to warm up and now he loves when company comes over, or when we visit my mother and her pack of dogs and cats in Houston.

It looks like I will be going to law school at the University of Arkansas in the Fall, and I think that Apollo will not mind hiking in the Ozarks every weekend and having a back yard at his disposal. I also took him to the beach a couple weeks ago and I thought that he might actually die of happiness (see attached picture). Needless to say he loved it.

Thank y'all for taking such great care of him and for entrusting him to me. He is an absolute treasure.

Best,

Jordan

Roni

roni_sandy1Our girl Roni has been with us for 1.5 months now & we're pretty sure she's the perfect dog!  Such a cutie, such a fast learner, and so eager to please. She has the softest fur and has personality from her nose to her tail! She even has a little heart-shaped design on her head...because she's SUCH a lovey!

A big part of her cuteness is her growing and sweet relationship with our other favorite girl Sandy (with only one hiccup early on).  Ughghghhh, it's too cute...they are BUDDIES.   Roni is less than half Sandy's size, and they don't look at all alike, but they are a great match.  They are even better as a pair than they are on their own -- Sandy was just waiting for a sister!

The very first night Roni was home with us, she & Sandy got matching bones to chew on.  They made themselves comfy together on Sandy'sroni_sandy2 dog bed and they've shared it -- or take turns on it -- since then.
The photos outside are the next morning in our front yard.  We've always had a little tether for Sandy so she can be with us when the boys are out front.  Sandy loves her front yard vantage point and Roni loved it right away, too.

roni_sandy4They each have their own crates at nighttime, but the rest of the time, they prefer to be together.  They dog wrestle ALL DAY and also love to do cheetah-fast laps around the yard together.  There's a photo of Sandy bomb-diving Roni on the dog bed trying to get her to come play -- it always works.  The final photo of them on the bed together (with Milam wearing a green shirt) was taken just the other day.  They are peas in a pod.

The boys ADORE Roni and are very, very good at petting two dogs at once. We love these girls!

Thank you Joyce & Austin Dog Rescue for rescuing such sweet dogs and letting them join for our family.

Stevie Nicks

stevie-zach_2012I feel incredibly lucky to be the one to take Stevie home.  After the first few days getting through the trust barrier she's become an amazing dog!  Definitely the sweetest one I've ever met.
