Success Stories 2010
Dash (Gomer)
Hi Joyce,
Thanks for all your help in preparing Dash for adoption! His socialization, crate training and potty training helped make his transition into his forever home almost seamless.
Wanted to send over some photos of Dash (formerly known as Gomer). He loves to run around the yard at top speed. He still digs up dirt with both his paws and nose, gets behind the shrubs and nibbles at the leaves and small branches, "prunes" some of the plants and snaps at any bug that flies near him. Also, had our first visit to the vet Friday and Dash did well -- even got his stitches taken out. We go back in three weeks.
We'll keep in touch...
Take Care,
Michael and Deidre Brown
Emie (Honey)

Hope is well with you. Just wanted to send you some pics of Emie's trip to South Padre in September. She was the BEST dog ever! As you can see from the pictures, she looked like she had a blast.
We got so many compliments from her, how pretty she is and how well behaved she is. We tell them she's a rescue dog from Austin DogRrescue. I joke around with Vince that she's a walking commercial for your organization and she definitely likes the compliments.
Emie says hi too!

Flicka (Heidi)
I just wanted to send you a note and give you a little update on Flicka. She is doing really well, and is such a joy in my life. Last night she had her first full night of sleep - I was more pleased than anyone to not have so many wakeup calls. She is getting bigger by the day, and her energy is hard to match. Last Friday we visited the vet (University Animal Clinic). Flicka is in great health, and her stitches are healing just fine. At that visit she weighed 6.5 lbs, though I am positive she has already grown this week. We will be returning this Friday for her last booster, and we've already gotten her heartworm and flea meds to take for Oct.
She is still struggling with housetraining, but we're working on it! She has some favorite toys, including a stuffed turtle, and her pink kong. All in all she is a very happy girl, and she makes me extremely happy too! Her appetite has been great, and she continues to be extremely affectionate.
Best,
Caitlin
Gabby
Just wanted you to know that all is going well with Gabby. We had family in this week (2 males, 1 female) and Gabby has done pretty well. She's very bonded to me but doing pretty good with Don & other two visiting males. She has shown a little bit of playfulness with her toys a few times. Hopefully she will liven up as she gets more comfortable. She walks about a mile two times per day and gets to meet people sometimes on these walks - she does really good on these walks. She's not jumping as much at strange noises inside and outside - she is learning what is normal here. I'm hoping that she will show more spunk/energy as she gets more comfortable - she is perfect in every other sense.
Attaching couple beach pics. Hope all is going well for you.
Cheers, Judy
George (Teddy)
I thought I would send you some pictures of George. He is doing great. We have been enjoying the fabulous weather and taking lots of walks and playing fetch. He knows how to get the ball and is starting to learn to bring it back to me. I returned your crate last week- thanks so much for letting him borrow it. Also thanks for offering to be there just in case, its nice to know you are not far.
Please let everyone at Austin Dog Rescue know George is enjoying his home and has changed my life! I love him dearly.
Thanks again, Asha
Honey (Emie)
Just wanted to give you an update on Emie. We adopted her in Dec 09 and she is such a part of our family now, I can't imagine a time before we had her. She is such a funny dog and she makes us laugh everyday. She's also very protective and takes her job as "guard dog" seriously.
She no longer has a crate. She's always around us that we don't need a crate. She also knows when she does something wrong.. like eat a hotdog from the coffee table, that she feels soooo bad about it, we don't need a crate to discipline her.
Thank you so much for taking care of her before we found her. I tell all of my friends about your organization and tell them how much our foster parent loved Emie.
Minette, Vince and Emie.

Jeff (Jett)

I wanted to give you an update on Jeff (formerly known as Jett)! We adopted him in May of this year and have enjoyed him so much these past 6 months (and are looking forward to many many more years with him)! He is getting along great with his sister Layla as they share hobbies in playing rope, chasing squirrels, and visiting Austin parks. Just wanted to let you know that he is doing well and we're very much in love with him! Thank you for helping us find him!

Josie
I've attached a picture of Josie and our daughter, Paula. What a difference a week makes! Josie is smiling, playing, and holding her tail high! That is at home with only us, though. Still a long way to go. We're looking forward to our lessons on the 19th!
Terri
Note from the Gonzales Shelter when we shared this update with them about Josie:
You can't imagine how happy this picture made us feel!!! Josie was one of 30 dogs from a hoarder's house, and very few we could be saved. I can't say enough and how much appreciation we have for everything Austin Dog Rescue and her new family has done for Josie!! Thank you so much!
Millie (Cassatt)
Cassatt (now Millie) is doing WONDERFULLY. She is getting along with my two other dogs perfectly and is absolutely adorable. She has had a bath, went swimming, met two horses at the barn (wasn't sure about that) and has gone for a golf cart ride, already in the short two days that she has been with us.
Thank you for running a tight organization so that people adopting your animals actually do get matched with the best owner for the breed and where people will love them and treat them like family.
People llke you, and Laura Jackson, are truly an inspiration to animal lovers everywhere. Keep doing what you do!

Nittany (Rain)
Attached is a great pic of Nittany. I am going to make her a scarf model She is doing very good. She is potty trained and knows how to sit, lay down, shake and roll over. We are working on stay and walking on a lease. I haven’t been able to take her too many places, so she isn’t getting the lease down too well. But she adjusted perfectly to part of our family. She doesn’t mind her crate, but would rather be laying on the couch.Best Regards,
Marianne
Olive
I just wanted to say hi and let ya'll know how wonderful little Olive is doing!
Attached are a few recent pictures...she LOVES her tennis ball, loves playing with her other doggie friends and no matter what lays in the warm clean clothes as they come out of the dryer!
Things are going really well...she continues to grow and make me smile everyday...even sitting here at work while typing to ya'll makes me smile! I can't believe she is close to being a year old! Thanks again for everything ya'll do and I hope life is treating both of ya'll really well!
Best regards,
Ann Campbell & Olive!
Parker
Attached is his picture. We love Parker and he’s great with my 1 year old, which came after him. We are currently looking to add another doggy since our other dog died and he really likes having a friend, so I’ll be in touch about that. Thanks,
Michelle Smith
Piper
PIPER
We adopted Piper in June of 2010 and could never possibly thank you enough! She has brought an immense amount of joy into our lives to the point that we don't want to remember life without her as a part of our
family! She LOVES to fetch; she will chase just about anything. She loves to guard the yard from squirrels and with the cooler weather gets to spend plenty of time romping around doing just that. My husband works from home so he gets to enjoy watching her play and have a good time all day long, plus she sure does keep him company. She has learned plenty of tricks and we hope to move on to some more advanced ones soon! Also her future with other training and sport are something we look forward to. We thank you again for bringing her to safety so we could adopt her and who could resist those ears!
Jennifer & Duane

Rose (Petunia)
Rose is having a pretty good time with her new mama and brother Willy! Here they are, back at the beach....it's a hard life, but someone has to do it!
