Other Ways You Can Help Save a Life

Perhaps you are not ready to adopt, may already have the dog of your dreams, or your life is not quite where you need it to be before you make a lifetime commitment to a dog. Below are other ways you can be an advocate for homeless dogs and support Austin Dog Rescue's mission.

Make a Financial Contribution

Austin Dog Rescue is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization. All donations are 100% tax deductible.

Austin Dog Rescue is a small organization that has limited funds available to accept dogs with the greatest needs. As anyone will tell you, rescues rely on financial donations to help pick up where their usual adoption donations leave off.

Many times, our hands are financially tied when it comes to taking in older dogs, dog with injuries or those that may be ill, or heartworm positive. If a dog comes in to our care healthy, we spend an average of $222 to make sure they stay that way. This included shelter fees, exam, heartworm preventative, flea protection and treatment for intestinal worms.

With our adoption fee being $165, there is little financial flexibility to be able to take in the neediest dogs with the level of care they require to regain their health and find a forever family, and this is a population of dogs we strive daily to save and for whom your donation can go so far towards.

Examples of the most common things we see are:

• Complications from Kennel Cough - $75
• Skin Issues such as Flea Allergies or Mange - $100
• Treatment for heartworms - $250 - $500
• Broken bone with NO complications - $600

These are all in addition to the normal and usual vetting all dogs need and require. Your donation - whether $10, $20 or $100 - is always needed and very much appreciated. We strive to provide the best medical care we can to each and every dog we take in.
