JUSTIN & JASPER
Hi! My name is Justin, and my brother's name is Jasper. We are handsome Beagle mix. We're around a
year old, and weigh around 35 lbs ( as of end of Jan 2012). We were ended up at Gonzales Dog Shelter with our mom and 2 sisters, when our previous owner "just didn't want any of us"anymore. Fortunately 2 sisters found homes soon, and my mom, Jessica, was VERY lucky to join Austin Dog Rescue( and later found good home, too!). Unfortunately we, the boys are still waiting for good homes. We're originally very happy, fun brothers. But please understand that the all world we know is here at the shelter, since we came here when we're only 5-6 month old. So we could be a bit shy at first when you first meet us. But we WILL warm quickly once you give us a chance to know you! And you will see how sweet we can be!! Both of us love people and get along well with other doggies. We're heartworm negative, have all current vaccinations, and have been neutered. All we need a chance!! * For more infomation, please feel free to call Gonzales Dog Adoptions @(830)445-9811 / 9279
OLIVE

Hi! My name is Olive, and I am an adora-bull PETbull mix that is about 1.5-2 years old, and I weigh about 40 lbs. I really love playing in the yard and I get along well with other dogs---especially boys( : I am very easy-going, and I really love people in all ages! I'm smart, pretty and I do think I'm well-behaved. I have been staying at shelter for a while, and I've been dreaming about the day I get adopted by a real nice family! I always keep my smile and keep my chin up, though, I know it's hard for us, PETbulls and their mixes to get adopted, because of some BAD people giving us a bad rap) : But I can assure you that if you come and meet me, you will see that there's not a nicer girl around!! All I want is a chance to show you!! I'm heartworm negative, have all current vaccinations, and have been spayed. * For more infomation, please feel free to call Gonzales Dog Adoptions @(830)445-9811 / 9279.

QUOSIMOTO
Hi! My name is Quosimoto, and I'm a little cute Dachshund mix. I'm around 1-2 years old and weigh only around 12 lbs. You probably know where my name came from : Quosimoto, the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Nobody know what injury I suffered to get my hunchback, and I can't remember what exactly happened. One morning, my previous owner just left me at the gate of the Gonzales Dog Shelter. Soon the shelter volunteers came, and found me. They think it's a pretty good chance that I was hit by a car in the past, but didn't receive treatment in time. BUT nothing gets me down! I am a very happy, out-going little man, and I really do enjoy every minutes of my life! I love everybody and get along well with other dogs, though I'm more than happy to be your one-and- only also( : I am heartworm negative, have been neutered, annd have all current vaccinations. * For more infomation, please feel free to call Gonzales Dog Adoptions @(830)445-9811 / 9279
"A" LITTER
Are you looking for more fun in your life? Are you a jogger who needs a running-buddy? Or you’re a single-dog home, and your pooch might need a canine buddy to hang around? Whatever reason, if you’re thinking about adopting one or two more members to your family, please come to the Gonzales Animal Shelter and meet us! We’re a litter of Pointer/ Blue Heeler cross pups, and all were named, starting with “A” (when you call Gonzales Dog shelter, ask for the “A-litter”). Our previous owner “forgot” to fix our mom & dad, and we’re the result… a litter of 15!! They couldn’t afford to take care of us, and this is how we ended up at the Gonzales Dog Shelter. We were a skinny, dirty bunch, covered by fleas, and we were all underweight. The volunteers worked very hard to take care of all of us, and here we are! Today, we’ve grown into one beautiful bunch that always catches people’s eye! We’re playful, loving, and a lot of fun! We’re currently around 8-9 months old, and weigh around 25-30 lbs. each. We have all current vaccinations, and have been spay/neutered.
GRETCHEN
Hi! My name is Gretchen, and I am a Black Mouth Cur. I’m around 6-7 years old, and weigh around 55-60 lbs. I am a very calm, laid-back gal, who has been waiting to have a family of my own. I was a hog-dog before I ended up at the Gonzales Dog Shelter. I was just a hunting “tool”, and never was treated like a “family pet”. One day, somehow I ended up on a busy highway. I was dirty, skinny and starving. Nobody stopped for me, except one lady. She immediately pulled over, and I just hopped in! That’s the moment my whole life changed. The volunteers at the shelter bathed me, fed me, and told me that I didn’t need to worry about anything anymore. I’ve received all vaccinations, and have been spayed. I was tested for heartworm, and lucky me, the result was negative! As you noticed, I’m not a young wild-thing, and some folks might believe” you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”, right? Hogwash! I quickly learned shelter routine, and soon showed everybody how smart I was. There is nothing like that twinkling in an older dog’s eyes when he/she finally gets adopted and realizes that after a lifetime of searching, he/she’s home. THAT is my dream, and would like to believe it WILL be happening!
CHRIS
Hi! My name is Chris, and I’m an extremely sweet and “love (Lab?)-ly” Lab mix. I’m currently around 8 months old, and weigh around 30-35 lbs. I have a stunning shiny, solid black coat which I think is very elegant. You know, black is a formal, prestigious color, so honestly, you can take me any formal occasion---I always look very presentable. I’m also very friendly, and affectionate. I’m a girl who immediately wants to be near you, love you, and have you love me back before you even know it! I get along great with any other dogs. I am young, VERY pretty, and smart. I think I really am quite a catch! I am heartworm negative, have all current vaccinations, and have been spayed.
BONZO
Hi! My name is Bonzo, and I’m a gentle Giant. I am a big boy, around 70-80 lbs., and I’m around 1-1.5 years old. The shelter volunteers believe I’m a Lab/Mastiff cross---which I think is a nice combination, since both breeds are known to be very loyal family dogs. I love loungin’ around and takin’ it easy. I think I would be a great couch-potato bud. I get along well with other dogs. I really love to play with my current roomie, Autumn, who is a fun Plott Hound mix gal. When I came to the shelter, I was really skinny---you could count all my rib-bones----and had lots and lots of fleas----you just couldn’t count them all, because it just was too many! I was one big poor hairless thing. My previous owner simply left me at the gate of Gonzales Dog Shelter. After all, it’s turned out that’s the best thing my previous owner ever did to me! Every sad thing is behind me now, and I am so ready to get a great family of my own! I am heartworm negative, have all current vaccinations, and have been neutered.
SUNFLOWER
Hi! My name is Sunflower. You can also call me “Sunny”! I’m a cute Hound mix. I’m around a year old, and weigh around 30 lbs. When I ended up at Gonzales Dog Shelter in the midst of summer, the volunteers named me after a beautiful yellow flower blooming under the Texas heat, hoping I would be just as blooming as the flowers soon. When I was picked up by Animal Control, I was literally a bag of bones, showed every single rib-bone. In fact, I barely could stand up on own my four feet, and I was starving to death. The volunteers started to put me on a good diet, and I slowly started to gain weight day by day. Everything seemed to be getting better. Then one day, a volunteer found out that I had a protruding rectum as a result of my stomach not having to digest food very much, after a long-time of being starved. I had to be rushed to the clinic and I survived. The volunteers told me that the dog like me who had to go through so many things WILL have a happy ending because I just deserve it! I really am hoping that will happen soon! I love everybody I meet, and get along well with other doggies. I am heartworm negative, have all current vaccinations, and have been spayed.
BAILEY
Hi! My name is Bailey, a real cute Catahoula mix girl. I'm around 6 months old, and weigh around 25 lbs( as of July 2011). One day, I was left om a county road with my brother. We were hungry and crying for help. A Good Samaritan found us and took us to the Gonzales shelter. Soon after my brother was adopted by a nice local family, and I'm hoping that I will find a great home soon just like my brother did! I am gentle and pretty mellow for my age. You know, it's pretty tough to find a well-behaved kid these day, I'm quite a catch! I am a smart cookie, and am willing to learn new things to be a great family dog! I think I would be a perfect girl for small children to grow up with, and I know I will be their best friend! I have all current vaccinations and have been spayed.
TORI BETH
Hi! My name is Tori-Beth, and I'm a Catahoula Leopard mix. I'm around 5-6 years old, which means I'm a matured lady who will not run you ragged! I'm very laid-back, and enjoy just hanging around. I was adopted once, but unfortunately things didn't work it out. That doesn't mean I'm a failure or bad dog. You know, that kinda things happen sometimes. And just ask all the volunteers at the shelter. They WILL tell you how great gal I am! I love everybody I meet and get along well with other dogs. I have good canine manners and I'm housebroken. I am a big girl weighing around 80 lbs but if you're looking for big, gentle indoor companion who already has house manners, here I am! I've been staying at shelter for a while now and I have been dreaming about my forever home.
PALMER
Hi, my name is Palmer! I'm a good-lookin' Catahoula mix. I'm around 1-2 year old, and weigh around 45-50 lbs. You would never believe the rough start I have had in life when you see how friendly and loving I am.
You see I was born deaf and I had a family once. We lived in an apartment but one day my family packed up all their stuff and left me sitting in the apartment waiting for them. They never came back for me and finally the police realized I was there all on my own with no one to take care of me so they brought me here to the shelter.
I had never had other doggie friends before so it took me a little time to get the hang of it. But now I love playing with all the dogs at the shelter and get along with everyone! I love dogs, but what I really want is a person of my very own to love me and for me to love back.
I'm about 50 lbs, but really think I make a great lap dog. If you kneel down to play with me I will snuggle up as close as I can get to you and stare up with adoring eyes while you pet me. My deafness really isn't that big a deal, because I am very people focused so I am always checking in with my person- so hand signals won't be hard at all to use! I like to play, but I am really a pretty mellow dog. I have been here for about 9 months (as of April '11) and can't wait for that special someone to realize that I too am special, not just "special needs". Please give me a chance -I know I will be the most amazing companion. I have sooo much love to give!
