Shelby is an experienced mom, but a puppy at heart! She was found with her oldest daughter, halfway through her (assumed) second pregnancy. Austin Dog Rescue was able to get her into a foster home the week before she delivered five healthy puppies (in less than three hours!). Shelby is a great mom, but she really would love to be spoiled by someone instead.
Now that her puppies are becoming older and more independent, she has become quiet playful. She's very loving and would love a home where she could spend lots of time with her owner(s). She likes children, but would do best with children who are comfortable with a dog full of personality. She's on the smaller side but also bouncy. She's guesstimated around two years old so she still has plenty of young dog tendencies.
Shelby is comfortable in her crate and does will with potty training when supervised. She exhibits some separation anxiety when left alone, so she will be happiest (and safest) with someone comfortable crating her so that she doesn't get into things she shouldn't when no one is around. Additionally, Shelby likely spent a lot of time outside of a home caring for her first puppy and she has a natural tendency to wander so she should never be left unattended outside. Her foster family jokes that she is part billy goat as she is comfortable climbing over, shimmying under, or making her way through just about any obstacle in order to get where she wants to be. However, she's also eager to please (and for treats) so she would do well with some additional basic training. Submit your application today to meet this sweet girl!
