Astro was one of eight puppies born into our rescue in the summer of 2009.  His mother was a pure bred Border Collie and we have no idea who his father was.  He is built like Bassett Hound or large Dachshund with short leg and markings like his Border Collie mother!

A year later he's made his way back to us because his family can no longer care for him.  His family never allowed him to live indoors as a family member and never took him to the vet.  But we've since taken care of all of those things and he's back living indoor with a family and has been throughly checked out and examined by our veteriarians and give a clean bill of health.  He's a happy boy once again!

Now that he's settled in his foster home Astro came right in the house and made himself at home!  He has figured out the good like and now loves being indoors and not left alone outside by himself.  He's an active boy and those short legs don't slow him down at all.  He would love a companion dog too because he loves having a fun-loving buddy to hang out with play with.  Though interested, he has been pretty good with cats so would probably do fine with a dog savvy kitty in the home.  He does not play with toys much but has taken up with a stuffed bear that he helped himself to from the doggy toy box.  

He is housebroken but likes to go outside regularly to make sure he is a good boy.  His his foster family is working on crate training and he is improving.  He loves to have his meals (kibble and peanut butter) served to him in a KONG so we suspect he'll make great strides in getting use to his crate again.

Astro has lived with children will make a great family companion!  He is neutered, current on vaccinations, micro chipped and comes with 30 days of free insurance!
