Adoption Application
Austin Dog Rescue is foster home-based rescue organization (no shelter) and is ran strictly by an all volunteer staff. Because of the number of applications we receive below are four important questions to ask yourself before submitting your application.
If you answer YES to ALL of the following applicable questions, please continue to the adoption application and you will hear from us within 24 hours! We look forward to working with you and helping make a great match!
If you answer NO to ANY APPLICABLE QUESTION below – STOP. We will be unable to contact you with reminders OR process your application.
1. APARTMENT APPLICANTS - I live in a LEASED home/apartment/condo and have in my possession a LETTER from management or my PET LEASE AGREEMENT and will fax it to you WITHIN 24 HOURS of submitting my application. The letter/lease agreements notes any AGE, WEIGHT, OR BREED RESTRICTIONS. This can be faxed to 512-366-9897 or scan/e-mail it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . By doing this I know the approval process will go more quickly!
2. MISSING or INCORRECT VETERINARY INFORMATION - I currently or within the past FIVE YEARS own/owned a dog and I confirm the NAME and PHONE NUMBER that will be on my application is the clinic that holds all of my dogs (LIVING and DECEASED) most CURRENT VETERINARY INFORMATION. By doing this I know my application will be processed and preliminarily approved if I meet the guidelines for health care for my pets.
3. FIRST TIME DOG OWNERS - This is my first time OWNING A DOG AS AN ADULT and I have researched and found a LOCAL VET TO PROVIDE CARE FOR MY DOG and by providing that information on my application I'll get preliminarily approved more quickly.
4. ADOPTING A PUPPY UNDER 8 MONTH OLD - I work from home, I am a stay-at-home parent, I am retired or I have the ability for the next SIX MONTHS to go home at least 1-2 times per day to check on and interact with my puppy. My schedule also allows me to go home immediately after work every day. I understand the importance of having time for a young puppy or dog.
